As the cycling industry faces new tariffs, we were relieved when Representative Earl Blumenauer, an Oregonian and avid cyclist, introduced the Domestic Bicycle Production Act to “reinvigorate bike manufacturing in the United States. Our dedication to domestic production aligns with Representative Earl Blumenauer’s vision for revitalizing American bicycle manufacturing and we could not be anymore thankful for this proposed bill. As one of the few remaining bike builders in the United States, we have weathered industry changes and challenges to deliver high-quality, utilitarian, handmade bikes. Our ongoing commitment ensures that each Bike Friday embodies the spirit of American ingenuity and perseverance, the same spirit that inspired Alan and Hanz Scholz, over three decades ago.
As we enter our 33rd year handcrafting folding bikes, we are optimistic about the future. We are hopeful this proposed bill will support existing bike builders and encourage others to continue the domestic bike building tradition, which is admired worldwide.
