No overdrive on SRAM Spectro 3×7 hub

Symptoms

I have a Two’sDay with a SRAM Spectro 3×7 hub. As far as I can tell the hub shifts into the low and mid internal gears, but not the overdrive. I have tried both loosening and tightening the shifter / indicator chain, but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. Suggestions?

Causes

High gear on the 3×7 hub is the point where the chain is fully retracted into the hub. You can lose overdrive when the cable pulling the indicator chain is too taut.

Solutions

To test for overdrive, disconect the chain from the cable and try riding the bike. If you do get the high gear, your cable was too tight.

If you are still not getting overdrive, the problem is in the hub. Try getting some oil in it through the hole in the axle which the chain goes.

If nothing works, we can rebuild the hub for you. Contact the Customer Service Department for more information.

We recommend using Phil’s Tenacious Oil for lubricating the inner workings of the SRAM Spectro 3×7 hub. See the link below to order some.
