Bike Friday Packalope Handlebar

We developed our own bikepacking bar in-house because the wide, flared alt-bars that are great while riding are very challenging to pack down for suitcase travel. The Packalope bar has multiple hand positions and a few unique features: The big one is that it splits in half for easy packing. (Only when you want it to, of course!) We’ve been making a variety of split handlebars for decades and the system is very robust. The bar is almost half the weight of its competitors due to its segmented construction, which allows us to have more material in high-stress areas without weighing down the rest of the bar. The bar tops are flattened for improved palm comfort and to add some beneficial flex.

The Packalope handlebar was originally designed for the Bike Friday All-Packa, a bikepacking bike. Since its launch many people have requested the bar to be installed on several other Bike Friday’s. Packalope bars can be installed on all Bike Fridays and other bikes but require a 31.8 ahead stem with a four bolt open face style.
