How to find your bike frame number or serial number
Yes, “serial number” and “frame number” are the same thing. There is a hand written number on the sticker that came with your new bike and it should match the number stamped onto the frame of your bike.
Other ways to find your Bike Friday frame number:
If you bought your bike long ago and lost the sticker or bought your bike third party below are ways to find your frame number.
Depending on the age and model of your bike, the frame number will likely be in one of two places. There are a few very old Bike Friday models that had frame numbers stamped in other spots.
On Bike Fridays built after 1999 have the frame number located on the underside of the bottom bracket shell. If you have a tandem, the same rules apply as the single bikes. We currently stamp the front bottom bracket shell.
In some unusual cases the frame number might be stamped on the back of the seat tube next to the bottom bracket.
The Bike Friday All-Day has the frame number stamped on the sheet metal beside the bottom bracket area. Turning your bike over should make the frame number apparent.
If you have trouble reading the number try using a flashlight or a piece of paper and scribbling on the paper over the bottom bracket with the side of pencil tip to illuminate the numbers.
Older discontinued Bike Fridays:
Bikes built before mid-1999 will have the frame number stamped on the drive-side dropout. It should be located between the nut for the rear hub, and above the rear derailleur. You may need to remove the rear wheel to see it clearly.
On the tikit the side flat bracket the seatmast clips into when unfolded has the frame number, or the bottom bracket shell. See pictures below:
For Sat R Day recumbents, the frame number is stamped on the topside of the jackshaft spindle housing, found below the seat.
