# My ‘Top Ten’ Reasons to Own and Ride a Bike Friday. Alan Scholz Co-Founder Green Gear Cycling, Inc.

Ride a Bike Friday and sooner or later someone will look at the small wheels and ask how it rides. Nobody has answered that question more often, or worked on it longer, than our co-founder, Alan Scholz. His ten reasons for owning and riding one are the most complete answer there is. Here they are.

- **Convenience and great Performance. **
The Bike Friday makes my life life easier and with flair.
**Easy to ride. **It fits better so it's comfortable and more efficient which makes which pleases me.** Easy to travel.** It was designed from the ground up to have good travel manners. Like Crusoe's Man Friday. Easy to store. It's compact and fits into an RV, boat, airplane, apartment, or my car's boot/trunk. Easy to fold. My 'personal transporter' fits quickly into my other transport. **Easy to carry**. It's light. A light bike is a delight. Especially for my limited horsepower. **Easy to get on. **I don't need to throw my leg over the bar. Easy to get off too. **Easy to maintain.** It works well and is easy for me to keep working well, as it uses conventional equipment. **Easy to own.** Green Gear folks and their exceptional Test Ride Dealers are there to help choose and plan a personal 'Travel Companion.' Bike Fridays fit more people and cycling uses than any other bicycles anywhere. Guaranteed.

- **"Rides as good as your best bike," **according to Bicycling Magazine's former senior editor, Ed Pavelka. I agree. It now is my best bike, and I have owned a bunch of good ones. When riding down the road, I feel like I'm on a fine conventional 'travel-challenged' bicycle. When I see my reflection, I remember... I'm not.

- **It's the right tool for the job.**
It starts with that huge feeling of relief when I walk away from the check-in counter after a quick check-in. Iknow my Bike Friday will be in the carousel at my destination with the rest of the bags. It packed in minutes. I didn't need to come early. My Bike Friday didn't need special check-in. And it didn't cost extra either! I already know the riding is going to be great when I get pedaling... Ah, good tools. It's great that it goes where I go. I'm a Bike-aholic.

- **It pays for itself over and over! Not just in cash but in eliminating extra time and frustrations.**
It's gives me a comforting and relaxing feeling as I sit on the plane and the doors are closed. I have often looked out to see conventional travel-challenged bikes in large boxes belonging to other travelers, still on the tarmac. I check mine as standard luggage. Those others had to get to the airport much earlier and paid up to 100 dollars extra for that "service." Now you're figuring how many trips for the Bike Friday to pay for itself... Make that one for me.

- **My feeling of elation** when I get out of the plane in Australia, Japan, Europe, New Zealand, Tucson... knowing again, that I came with the right equipment to make it a great trip and a great ride. This is what a bike trip should feel like. Easy traveling and meeting interesting new people in exotic places... Not taking care of the bicycle.

- **My sense of well-being** on the second day of my tour when many others are complaining ... about soreness or their rental bikes. I am happy on my personal, custom-built and sized Bike Friday... Euphoria.

- **The smug, knowing feeling I have when I zip by that guy... **that asked "Does the Bike Friday really work?" and "Do you need to pedal faster?" Yep. Nope. Performance that Packs!

- **The confidence I have riding my Bike Friday **with its fast little wheels, my fit heart and strong legs, knowing the cycling keeps me healthy, self propelled, and ready to meet the world. Bring it on!

- **The friendly and intriguing new acquaintances and friends that I've met because of my Bike Friday.** I've found that people around the world seem to universally love and accept cyclists and bicycles. I think it's the open, accepting attitude that is fostered by moving under your own power on that simple, non-threatening machine. People approach wanting to know where I come from and "what is that interesting little bike you are riding?" It's no wonder that the Bike Friday owners' community is world-wide and growing. Little wheels rock!

- **Traveling by bicycle and with my Bike Friday.**
Many have said the bicycle is one of the best things ever designed by man - "the noblest invention." Having a fine bicycle along has always been a dream of mine. Now you can join the cycling elite with an appropriate, 'real' performance bike that travels along conveniently. It's a nice plus for me that I can be a self-propelled two-wheeled ambassador. Bicycling is intrinsically empowering and non-threatening. I like being a healthy, low-impact traveler, spreading goodwill. But I admit, I like cruising down a new road at a nice clip the best.***Alan gave his ten reasons. What are yours?
