NEW FOR 2008! Manayunk Hill Climb now has official Folding Bike class!

NEWS FROM TROPHY BIKES PHILADELPHIA ...
www.trophybikes.com/events

As hosts of the ROUND UP USA FOLDER FEST (June 6-7-8, 2008), we've entered more and more folding bikes into the COMMERCE BANK MANAYUNK HILL CLIMB. ..

The organizers have recognized this, and we're now sponsoring a separate folder class in the event, with prizes for top male and female finishers. We invite fit folder riders who are good climbers to register for this event. It's going to be pretty cool, as the folders will all go off as a class, one every 30 seconds! This will be a great opportunity to show the world (well, Philadelphia, anyway) that folders can climb just as well as the big bikes.

Here's the link to register:

SOME TIPS FOR HILL CLIMBERS

The Manayunk "Wall" as it's now, is a steep (17%), short (about a kilometer) run... last year's overall winner did it in 1:27.

Good folder times have been around 2:00 though this is changing as more folder riders attack the Wall. Best Folder time of 1:55 was posted last year by Trophy Bikes' own Peter Dalkner, riding a Brompton S2-XL, wearing cutoff shorts and argyle socks!

IF YOU REGISTER -- let's show some branding -- in the "team club space" put TEAM (bike brand), ie, TEAM BROMPTON, TEAM BIKE FRIDAY, etc. That way others can keep track of what brands are taking part in this event. Yes, considering how short this ride is, it's pretty costly, BUT it's a real carnival, from the warmup area at the foot of the hill with its OIympic-sized timer, to the cheering crowds along the hill, it's a day you will remember.

The hill climb is just part of all the bike things that are going on in Philadelphia the weekend of June 6-7-8... check http://www.procyclingtour.com/race_overview.cfm/race_id/6 for more on the pro race that happens the same weekend as our little folder fest. It's a great time to bike in Philly!
