Some of the folks in the BF Club of Boston prepare to ride the Minuteman trail
![]() THE BIKE FRIDAY CLUB OF BOSTON is outstanding. Also known as: B.A.G.G (Boston Area Green Gear Cyclists) this exciting chapter started out in 2001 with an educational tour of Boston's massive BigDig site and boasts a diverse calendar of social monthly rides. In fact, Anna Kleinfeldt has been running a well-organized ride consistently EVERY SINGLE MONTH for the past 3 years. "Our aim is to reach all the New England States - New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York," says Anna. "We use Amtrak to get out to places, which takes no more than an hour or so to get to the start. It's a sign of our riding philosophy that we don't race, but have enough breath to chat as we ride." Anna is a member of the W.O.R.S.T. mountain bikers, so if you've hesitated on joining the rides because you're into fat tires, go meet Anna and ask her what W.O.R.S.T. means! She's one of the funnest, most energetic women I have met and in the Bike Friday world you meet quite a few. Here's a typical, well-organized ride notice prepared by Anna: |
Hi all,
We're planning on a rain-free Sunday ride on May 22nd. Time: Meet at 1:30 pm. Plan to leave at 1:50 pm. The ride will be on the streets of Gloucester and Rockport; following the coastline around Cape Ann. The meeting location will be at the Gloucester MBTA Station off Washington Street. The MBTA Commuter Rail connects Boston's North Station to Gloucester and Rockport.
For those who wish to use the MBTA schedule is the same as in March/2002:
Boston/North Station---Leave 12:15 Arrive Gloucester---1:13 p.m. Return Time: Leave Gloucester---5:18 Arrive North Station/Boston at 6:19.
An option who those who do not wish to do the loop can ride 1/2 around the coast to the Rockport MBTA Station and take the train back to Gloucester. This train leaves at 5:10 p.m. and stops in Gloucester at 5:18.
For those coming by car, see directions below. There is parking at the Gloucester MBTA Station.
Directions:
a) Route I-95/128 North toward Rockport
b) Stay on Route 128 North when I-95 splits off at Exit 45
c) Route 128 North until you enter the first rotary (this is after going over the bridge). This is Grant Circle; exit 11
d) take first Right off the rotary onto Washington Street
e) take 5th Left (about 6/10 mile from rotary) into the MBTA parking lot.
My cell phone will be on at 12:30pm on Sunday. I will also retrieve messages prior to this time. As in previous rides, this is a Fun Ride and there is time to rest, chat, deep breathe and enjoy the views as well as the fellowship.
Let's continue to spread the Bike Friday word: "Little wheels make me Fly"
ALL CYCLISTS WELCOME! Come as long as your wheels, brakes, and shifters are working.
