Tired of of the peak hour standstill? Envious of fit cyclists cruising past the congestion? Like to ride but need more cues, clues, companionship? A panel of Brisbane movers and shakers in the cycling community present a "mini-sustainability symposium" of new, novel and increasingly necessary ways you can transform your daily commute. Meet these cycling advocates, tour the King George Square cycle facility and open your mind to bicycles built for a sustainable future, including the multi-modal - or folding - bicycle. The tikitTM, Bike Friday's answer to global oil addiction, will be briefly demonstrated. See also July 9 Galfromdownunder FilmFest at BF dealer Epic Cycles and July 12 Bike Friday Club rid

FRIDAY FRIENDLY TOUR COMPANIES - Grasshopper Adventures

July 2008
Jul. 18
Goldbean cafe, cnr of Castlereagh and Goulburn sts (Masonic Centre)

If you are interested in some great supported cycling tours in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam or Laos, I recommend you  come to the Goldbean cafe, cnr of Castlereagh and Goulburn sts (Masonic Centre) in Sydney at 6pm on 18 July.

Adam from Grasshopper tours will be presenting a slice of cycle touring heaven.  Feel free to bring a bottle of wine, relax, have a chat to Adam, see some great photos and have a bite to eat.  Grasshopper tours are particularly interested in Bike Fridays because they can use smaller vehicles for support.  They will design custom tours for anyone with a particular agenda.

Having just completed a two week Vietnam tour with Grasshopper on my NWT, I can vouch for their knowledge of backroads and their commitment to eco-friendly tourism. The riding is nothing short of fantastic and the interaction with the Vietnamese in small villages is special.  Many people I spoke to before going to Vietnam warned me against riding because of the traffic.  Grasshopper have the routes and the expertise to meet that challenge.

Recumbent Weekend by the Sea

September 2008
SatRDay, red

Read the inaugural 2007 event report

The inaugural 2007 rally was a blast! Here is an event especially for our SatRDay owners. John and Ann Hoyt invite recumbent riders, especially SatRDay owners, to a weekend rally based at their divine cottages by the sea. John says: My wife and I would like to host you folks in September at our cottages in Rye. Rides will vary from 17 miles to 45 miles to a lot longer if you wish and all sorts of combinations in between. Portsmouth is just an 20 minute ride by bike from here and it's quite the quaint town (lots of restaurants and shopping). York and Ogunquit Maine are about 20 - 30 minutes by car or an hour by bike. Again, lots of restaurants and shopping. Our rocky coast is a great place to relax and read or just gaze or whatever. A good place to just get a feel for this area is the Official NH guide book go to the seacoast region. Our web site is www.hoytslodges.com . Special cottage rate for attendees. Call us or better yet, come on by, park here for the day, and check out the coast. [Editor's note: John and Ann are two of the coolest and nicest people you are every likely to meet in your life, ever - the Gal] Permalink: http://www.bikefriday.com/events/ryerecumbent
