MA - Boston Chapter
MA - Boston Chapter

Also known as: B.A.G.G (Boston Area Green Gear Cyclists)
This chapter started out in 2001 with an educational tour of Boston's massive BigDig site and, thanks to energetic leader Anna Kleinfeldt, has a diverse roster of monthly rides. "Our aim is to reach all the New England States - New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York," says leader Anna Kleinfeldt. "We use Amtrak to get out to places, which takes no more than an hour or so to get to the start. It's a sign of our riding philosophy that we don't race, but have enough breath to chat as we ride."
Anna moved to the Boxford area north of Boston in 2008, and sends this update:
"I live in Ipswich, which is thirty miles north of Boston. The part of town I live in borders Topsfield, Georgetown, and Boxford. I hope to plan and post some rides (not races) to start in June. Due to soaring gas prices and the picturesque opportunities the country roads north of Boston offer, the rides will take place in this area. If you would like to lead a ride or be on the distribution list for these rides, please affirm by emailing me at baggcyclist@yahoo.com and join our club YAHOO group. Many of the rides will start and end at my home as I live on a country road (Boxford Road) in Ipswich . The posted rides will have option of being combined with boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming or just sitting on the deck and looking at the water. My home is 200 yards from Hood's Pond with rights to the pond for these activities. Rides will also be planned for Plum Island, (Newbury, MA.), sea coast of Gloucester, Ma. Essex, Ma. area,Topsfield, Ma and some for southern New Hampshire and southern Maine. All these areas are at least thirty miles north of Boston.
In the fall, I hope to do at least one trip to East Bay Bike Path in East Providence, R.I. It is difficult to get lost; but sometimes a missed turn can take you several miles to get back on track and the rides become a mystery ride. However, Judy Nahas, who plans to frequently participate in these rides has offered to do a sweep. Hope to see you with the little wheels turning.
